He is a rare creature, he lives off of his wood working, and his wood working is turning bowls without any power tools. He uses a Spring Pole Lathe, and hand crafted tools in old style, recreating techniques that can be traced back past the 16th Century.
He's been to the Mary Rose, handled the wood ware, and recreated many of them. He has many of his original bowls for sale on his website, and is what I consider to be a Master of this craft. He is also quite a nice guy and willing to share information.
He is quite an inspiration to me, and I am hoping to one day build my own Pole or human powered Lathe to try and some of these wonderful things.
